Mask

What I know about masks?

Mask is a prop to show us a fashion, character, feeling and even a culture things. Different masks can show different variety of feeling for example: sad, happy, non-emotional, angry, confused, etc. The mask is mainly used for performance and dancing (Masquerade, culture festival). The party that uses mask is “Masquerade” which uses the mask to cover up the faces and emotion to not let other people (dance partners and surrounding people). This party is really well-known and even at my school, when it was a special week we dress up as if we are going to “Masquerade”. Also mask can show different character in performance. But if we have a mask that shows the characteristic of the character, then the movement is getting important. Because even the mask was in sad emotion but the movement is jumping and hopping (which shows happiness) doesn’t fit much and it will make people (audience) confuse about the play.So in different subjects, there is different part of things that getting important to it.

For my class, in Visual Art need the emotion and expression in or on the mask but in performing art, we need the movement that fits with the mask. And for LA English, we need to feel a emotion and feelings in to write a essay, poet or poem. But I think the subjects that doesn’t relate to Mask is Physical Education (PE) class because they use power and energy to move around so the class doesn’t need the expression during learning.

Different type of mask? And different country/culture mask?

The mask is really common prop in world but there is also different kind of mask. The common types of mask is a traditional culture mask that was created in different places around the world. And these are some different Mask type that I found with the pictures:

  • Africa Mask

  • India or Himalayas Mask

  • Mexico Mask

  • Guatemala Mask

  • South America Mask

  • Europe Mask

  • Japan Mask

  • Protection Mask

  • Miniature Mask

Sea Creature Sculpture 2!! Later on, I notice…

November 21, 2009 at 7:01 pm | Posted in G7 Art | Leave a comment

Hi! You know I am working on the Sea Creature Sculpture even now!! Well before I start, I tell you something it is very important! This is recycling project and we really need to use something that we can reuse as much as we could!! And I am also using a lot of reuse material during this project!! Save the Paper and stop cutting down a lot of trees around the world!!

Do you like this picture? I really LOVE it! The design is really cute and nice! And I think this picture want to say "PLEASE DON'T CUT DOWN ANY MORE TREES"! And this picture is on the T-shirt! Cool Huh?

Picture from: http://www.tshirtdujour.com/preview/DCLT.jpg

And these are the problems that I was stop making:

NOTE: Blue Writing is problems and Red Writing is how i fix the problems

  • I too much glue when I stick piece of papers

This is how my teacher showed to my friend. When we put piece of paper in the glue bowl, we need to make a “Scissor hand” and put the glue paper between the two fingers. Then put the finger together and take the paper out slowly. Now you should have less glue on the paper and the glue is on your two fingers.

  • I have only 3 fins on my fish!! I need one more!!

I notice this problem when my teacher told me. And the teacher said that on the next class, we need to bring every parts of our sculpture or else MISSING ASSIGNMENT!! So I notice that I really need to work quickly at home on the day because on the next day was my next class!! So when I get to my house, I start to brainstorm what materials would i use to make. And I decide to use

  • Small Plastic Plate

dart-9pwf-9-white-famous-service-impact-plastic-plate-125-pack

  • A little amount of Tape

1181 TAPE (1^2)

  • Newspaper (Reused one!!)

images

  • Something to dry my sculpture (I used Dryer for the time)

And so I can keep on track what my other friends are doing now. And Now I stick the new fin and so it is GOOD SHAPE!

  • I have the bottle mouth!!

I didn’t fix yet but I will going to fix in next class. Or before the class. So this is what I think to fix the problem: I make a triangular cone by cardboard and then i make a new layer on top of that. I try to be quick as possible!! :)

  • I need to work more fast and quickly finish my work!! I have less time!!

I think if I can’t finish in time then I need to take home early time so I can be on time or even I can be ahead of my friends!! And maybe I have a lot of time to paint on my Sculpture.

And this is the DETAILED Procedure of the Sculpture:

  1. Draw your animal in the book (different angle will be better and good!) and put some picture to draw easily.
  2. On the book, make a lists of material to use for making your animal.
  3. Draw the sculpture with the materials you are going to make from (in detail)
  4. Prepare for your material at house or from your friend and bring to next class time
  5. (If you need to cut the materials then do that first) Now stick the materials and make the shape first
  6. When you stick everything, then think if you don’t have any problem. If you have, then fix it and move on!!
  7. Now you will cut/rip the newspaper (reuse the old paper!!) and put some TOA glue on (*My friend idea to make it easy: dump the paper into the TOA glue bowl) and stick it. But before you stick it, make a scissor hand and put the paper between the fingers.  Stick the finger together and then pull the paper up. Now you will have less TOA glue then before (paper) and the TOA glue stick to your finger
  8. Repeat that until the whole body covered up!! And then dry the first layer to make it hard more.
  9. Then next, change the paper (change color is good to know where you are on that stage) and repeat sticking ON the 1st layer.
  10. Then change the paper again and repeat that until you have 5 layers
  11. Now you rip/cut the special piece of paper. It call the “sand-paper”. You can use “sand-paper” or “REUSE towel”. It will stick well and make it smooth.
  12. Now you paint on the last layer

FINISH!!

Picture of Procedure number 7:

DSC01027

I use this picture before… And i have only 3 fins at this time… And i just start my first layer… And in this procedure, I have a big long piece of Newspaper and if it big then it will not be hard enough so I rip more little pieces then before. This should be my another problem at upper page but I am too lazy so I just write here!!! :P

Picture of Procedure number 11:

I am now sticking the “sand-paper” to my sculpture. And in this point I found that I have only 3 fins sticked to my sculpture so I fixed it now…

Sea Creature Sculpture

Investigation:

What animal have I choose? Why did I choose this animal?

Ribbon Sweetlip

I chose the fish name Ribbon Sweetlip. I chose this fish because it is hard to draw a straight line (color yellow and black) and it is challenging me to done in very nice and neat. And also I like Ribbon Sweetlip’s name, shape, and the color.

The basic information about Ribbon Sweetlip

Common Name: Ribbon Sweetlip

Scientific Name: Plectorhinchus Polytaenia

Maximum Lenght: 40 cm

Facts:

1. Ribbon Sweetlip fish lives in Deep Reef place

2. As Jureniles, there fish are black and yellow striped

3.  Over times, they will develop into brown and white striped adults

Planning:

How do I intend to make this sculpure? (Procedure)

  1. Draw a plan of your animal (be detail!) and bring material to prepare for the next class time
  2. Make the amature!! Stick the material together with tape (don’t waste a lot, use a little is good for the environment!!)
  3. Ready for sticking the Newspaper (Recycle) to the amateur that we made (procedure number 2) There is a picture on the last so don’t miss it!!
  4. Continue (procedure) number 3 and dry…
  5. Start paper-mache…
  6. Continue…. (paper-mache)
  7. Finish paper-mache and start painting
  8. Continue to finish painting

FINISH!!

So basically, it will take around 2 months to finish!

What materials will I need?

  • Reuse Newspaper

images

  • Water bottol (600mL)

water_bottle-300x300

  • 1 plastic plate

dart-9pwf-9-white-famous-service-impact-plastic-plate-125-pack

  • Tape

1181 TAPE (1^2)

  • Acrylic Paint

Acrylic Paint

  • Reuse Hook

metal_hook

What difficulties do you think you will have? What challenges are you hoping to overcome?

In this unit, my challenging things that will happen in the future is the paper-mache , because I never did the paper-mache in my life! And I even don’t know how to start! But I think I will ask my teacher Mr. Pat or my friends for some help! And also the challenging thing is that maybe I have not much time to finish my amateur. So to solve this problem, I really need to be Time-management all the time when I do my art work, because I had an experience that I did my work good but then there is no more time so I rush and finish my work but the problem is it ugly and messy. It is way different then the first one and the work that I done!

SORRY!! IT IS UPSIDE DOWN!!

One Point Perspective-My Name Tag

September 23, 2009 at 3:39 pm | Posted in G7 Art | Leave a comment

Well, the first thing that I tell you is that this is the first assignment that I did in G7 so it is different form the G6!!!

For our G7 first assignment was making our name for portfolio in One Point Perspective. Do you know what is the One Point Perspective?? If you don’t know then you should look and read what I tell you!!

My name done by the first letter which is “R” go near the vanishing point (but not TOO close) and the “A” come toward us. My plan was to make like a STAR WARS but some of my friend had a same idea but in more creative way… But I think I did well… I THINK…

Procedure:

  1. Practice- One Point Perspective and try to master how to do!! In this step, we try out different style to write our names. It was very hard for me first but then it get FUN to do!!
  2. Plan and Brainstorm- We brainstorm what it will be and planned our names that we are going to put on our portfolio cover.  And we can test out some colors to fit with the name that we plan on our draft book!
  3. Start the PAINTING!!- We need to write soft with our pencil to sketch in the piece of paper (That Mr.Pat, our teacher give us) and then we start painting on it!! It was really scary!!
  4. Take a Picture- We NEED to take the name on the camera to insert in our blog! You will see on the bottom of the page.
  5. Stick to our Cover- It was the most SCARIEST thing (for me) because Mr. Pat said that “Bubbles are Troubles!”!!

DONE!!!

Reflection Time:

I think I did best as I can to be done and also I did the work what I want to looks like so I am very happy!! And I like my painting that I made because it looks nice to me and my few friend. :-) But I made some errors….

  1. I think I should make the line more straight as I can do
  2. Make the painting more neater and more careful to paint outside of the letters, because I made A LOT of mistakes during the painting time…
  3. MAJOR PROBLEM… Try to not make BUBBLES on the PAINTING part… but the painting is bumpy so I can’t stick straight… But it is my fault!
  4. Make the color more unique and make people think the word BEAUTIFUL PAINTING!!
  5. Make the pencil line lighter. You can’t see the pencil line because it is cover by black painting.

This is my Final Painting looks like:

Thank You!! And please comment!!!

Negative Space

May 19, 2009 at 3:36 pm | Posted in G6 Art | Leave a comment

Today, I am going to talk about negative space.
What is it mean?

It is a art which only paint the space of the picture. We can’t colour or line the thing, only the space. This picture is a example of what I am talking about.

rubin2

If you see this image, the left side is the real picture that we normally paint, but on he other side, the picture painted only on the side. So this is what is the Negative Space looks like.

The work that I did:

In my art class, we are learning about a Negative Space and we need to draw a picture that it can be a landscape, etc. But the picture need a lots of holes or a creative picture. So my plan for this work is…..

Planning:

What material did I use:

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Art book
  • Ruler

Stage Set Design

May 7, 2009 at 8:12 am | Posted in G6 Art | Leave a comment

Today, I am going to talk about Stage Set Design.
What is it mean?

It is a model of the stage which is about one story that showns at the background. And we can design what we want to make the design looks like and also we can put a special things if we want to put on the stage for example Wings. Wings is a things that the space which the characters can exit the stage or enter the stage!!

Planning:

The materials that we used:

  • A2 paper
  • Scrap paper
  • Pencil
  • Paint
  • Eraser
  • Ruler
  • Stapler
  • 2 side tape
  • Cutter

The color scheme:

Well, It looks like I used a warmer color the most maybe. Because in every stage set design, we have a feeling in the picture and my one is a happy felling so it have to be a brite color or a natural color. It can’t be like black, brown, gray, and any darker color… My friends are sad so she need to make it a cool color or not warm color.

Create:

Procesure to this project:

  1. Choose the story from the 3 novels that we read
  2. Try to make a plan of the stage
  3. Find the feelings of the setting and find the direct quote form the novel with the author name, page number, chapter, our name
  4. Get a A2 paper and start draw with a light push on to the paper
  5. If we need to make the special props, cut and draw
  6. Paint the whole picture even the special props!!
  7. Dry………!!
  8. Get a scrap paper and 2 side tape to stick the special props on to the real picture
  9. STICK!!!!!
  10. Make sure it will not fall
  11. Stick the direct quote that it is print out or hand write (Stick to the right down or anywhere we can see easily)
  12. Hand to the teacher

FINISH!!!!

Evaluate:

This is a example of the Stage Set Design!! The first picture is my art and second one is my friend’s  art (for example of others)!!

Stage set design picture

Someone's Stage design

The success about my art is that I have a lot of special props in my design and also I can make the art what I really want to be looks like so I am really happy and proud to my self! Even I did not do nice or anything like that, I still proud my self that I never give up making the design even I had a mistake alot of time.

Next time I think I need to prove is that I think I did a good job but maybe for other people, they don’t think like same as me. So I will try to make more neat and well organized art! But I will not forget to never give up even anything happend to me!! Before I give up, try to do as mush as I make it the best!

When we compare the art together, my friends one is more nice and neat. So the thing that I want to prove is come from when we compare the arts together.

Paul Klee Art

February 12, 2009 at 4:16 pm | Posted in G6 Art | 1 Comment

Hello, today I am going to talk about Paul Klee art.

Research:

200px-paul_klee_self_portrait_1911

Short Description:

This person is Paul Klee. He was a Swiss Painter, and he’s nationalty is German. He paint different pain example expressionism, cubism, surrealism. He was a mastered color theory. The color is Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary.

About Activity that we do in the class:

On this project, I draw something that represent about me! My painting is similar to Paul Klee painting because this project is based on his painting but he did not paint about his self. But it is really looks like same thing only not the same topic.

Planning:

The matterial that we used is:

  • Planing Book
  • Paper (A3, card board, the paper with lengh: 40cm width: 30cm)
  • Paint equipments
  • Dubble side tape
  • Scissor
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

The color schemes that I used is:

  1. Primary
  2. Secondary
  3. Analogoug
  4. Warm

primary-and-secondary-color

Creating:

Procesure to this project:

  1. Think of the things that it is represent about you and list on the draft book
  2. Draw a picture on to the draft book and draw the line (remember, this is a draft)
  3. If you finish with the draft, yuo have to copy the picture to the another different paper( lengh: 40cm width: 30cm) (draw the line not to dark!!)
  4. Put the picture that you make from 3. to the copier and copy into the A3 paper
  5. On the A3 paper, plan the color by using Primary, Secondary color and the pattens too. The color cannot be next each other
  6. Then on the paper 3. paint exact same thing
  7. Board with any color card board and cut with 1 cm each

FINISH!!

Evaluate:

paul-klee-art

This is my final Product that I made. Sorry that I don’t have the draft on my blog.

The successful about this art is that I did not have a big mistake or little mistake. And I think I did a pretty good job on the painting because I did not miss any space, color and no space. And I did the boardingwell because I cut with the cutting machine to cut straigh

I think I need to prove is maybe I can make my idea more intresting so it is not similar to everyone else. And I can use more hard color schemes like complishment color.

Thank you for reading my second blog. Please read my third one too!!!

Cubic Abstract Art

December 5, 2008 at 4:13 pm | Posted in G6 Art | Leave a comment

Hello, Today I am going to tell you a journal about Cubic Abstract that I draw.

Good thing for this project:

I liked about my blog was when I am sketching the draft, I don’t have a good idea to draw  but when I just draw what I think what it will be if I draw and completed. This is the actual nature picture that I have to think a new painting from this picture.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus

I have to take 3 colours from this picture and draw a another picture.

Bad things about my picture:

I think I can have more creative art work and I can done by more neat work. This is my draft about my picture.

reikas-art-draft

Intresting about this art activity:

When I was just to plan my picture, we have to paint directly to the paper and with NO pencil lines so I was really scared if I had a mistake what I am going to do!?!? But when I am painting directly, It was not hard and it is easy to paint more that drawing with the pencil line and also it don’t take alot of time and if I draw with a pencil mark first, then I have to erase the line and it will be really messy. And I am wondering that why can my teacher tell us to not draw a pencil line because it makes messy… Maybe he makes a mistake first try.

The thing I can prove:

I think I can prove is think a more good and intresting picture or more careful to paint my final painting, because I have a mistake that I painted not straight where I have to paint in straight. And I think I should prove the skills call sticking because when I am sticking the picture on to the cardboard, I accidentally stick with the air inside where the cardboard and the picture is not sticked(in the middle part)

The step to finish this project:

  1. Get the picture that teacher gave it to us
  2. Find three colour from the picture and decide how is your picture going to looks like in the draft book (You can plan many as you want to) And colour with a crayon (not with the pencil)
  3. Choose one of the plan (only) to start planning to paint on the good paper
  4. Paint carefully that it looks like your plan
  5. If you finish, then dry with the dryer
  6. Choose the cardboard (any colour you like)
  7. Stick the drawing to the cardboardthat you choose in step number 6 with a dubble side tape. Only tape on the 4 side of the drawing paper
  8. Measure how much cm you want for your boarder to your painting
  9. Cut straightly and carefuly
  10. Write your name at the back lightly

Finish!!

This is an example of what the finish work looks like:

 Final Art Paint

I think the final picture looks like same as my draft. I think I did the final work the best!!

Thank you very much for you to read!
